How was your ARRL Field Day? Travis, W9HDG and I, deployed deep into the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest of Northern Wisconsin to battle the bugs and rain. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Hear the 15m Moxon antenna in action.

This year for Field Day I hit the road and traveled to the Chequamegon Nicolet National Forest in Northwest Wisconsin. Travis is a host at one of the campgrounds and he invited me up for the weekend. In grand spirit, Travis started early with the field day preparations.

The Black Lake campground is located near Clam Lake, Wisconsin. To get there, you start driving north, when you see the giant deer, you know you only have 40 miles to go. Soon the road narrows and you eventually end up on a gravel forest 7road. What seems like an eternity brings you to Black lake.

Our first order of business: setting up the 15 meter Moxon antenna.
